Rashid Khan Re-Signed By Sussex Ahead Of 2022 T20 Blast

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has signed a new contract with Sussex for the 2022 T20 Vitality Blast, the club confirmed on December 17, Friday. The news comes a couple of days after Mohammad Rizwan signed up for the 2022 season.

“He’s the best in the business and we are truly lucky to have him. It is great to know we have developed a long-standing relationship with the best T20 spinner in the world and not to forget his dynamic batting which we witnessed against Yorkshire in last year’s quarter-final,” said Sussex Twenty20 coach James Kirtley.

Rashid will be at the county for the fourth time in his career. He played just three games last season due to commitments in Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“It will be amazing to have his services for the majority of the T20 Blast along with our two other overseas players. This puts us in an enviable position of being able to react to the ever-changing landscape of international cricket,” Kirtley further added.

The Afghan spinner is one of the most prominent figures in the T20s, having picked up 403 wickets in 292 matches at an impressive economy of 6.36. His services are extremely crucial to any team but Rashid Khan said he is happy to be at Sussex.

“I have always enjoyed my time at Sussex and am more determined than ever to try and help bring the T20 Blast title back to Hove. The squad will look a little different this season with some key players having moved on but the youngsters coming through impressed me greatly in recent seasons and combined with some new faces I think it is a really exciting time to be a Sharks fan,” Rashid said.

Rashid is also an important member of the IPL, having impressed while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He will be one of the most sought-after players in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
