Rashid Khan Set To Miss Afghanistan's First Test Against Zimbabwe Due To Injury

Afghanistan’s leg spinner Rashid Khan is set to miss the first Test against Zimbabwe after picking up a finger injury playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League 2021. The 22-year-old has played four Tests for Afghanistan so far and has picked up 23 wickets so far. He has taken 3 five-wicket hauls already in his brief Test career with best figures of 6 for 49.

Rashid Khan is a phenomenal bowler when it comes to the limited-overs formats and his numbers are exceptional in the format. He has played very few Test matches and will be looking to play a lot more in the coming years after Afghanistan played their first Test against India four years back in 2017. Rashid Khan is the number one bowler in the ICC T20 Men’s rankings.

“Rashid Khan Is Under Treatment” – Afghanistan Cricket Board

The Afghanistan cricket board said that Rashid Khan is under treatment in UAE and he will have to take a reassessment Test three days later for the team to decide his inclusion in the first Test. The Test series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe starts on 2nd March with the first match of the series to be played till 6th March 2021. The all-rounder has been in good form in the Pakistan Super League 2021.

“Rashid Khan is under-treatment by the relevant health officials in UAE and the final call on his inclusion in the first test will be taken after a reassessment of his injury on 28th February,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board said.

Rashid’s Heroics Against Peshawar Zalmi

Rashid showed his all-round abilities with the bat scoring a quickfire 27 runs off 15 deliveries in a run chase of 141 runs after an excellent spell of four wickets for 14 runs. His helicopter shot to score the winning runs in the 19th over shook the twitter world. Former England women batsman Sarah Taylor was in awe of the shot and tweeted as ” Teach Me” to Rashid Khan in the video. Rashid agreed to teach her the shot and the cricketing world went crazy about the incident

Rashid will play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL 2021 and has been their standout bowler for them for the last four years
