Former Pakistan keeper-batsman Rashid Latif wishes for Pakistan to play more higher-ranked teams moving forward in Test cricket. Pakistan dominated Zimbabwe in both the matches of their two-Test series in Harare as the hosts were no match in any of the department. While Rashid Latif was impressed after the national team’s performance, he wants Babar Azam and co. to play more against England, Australia, and New Zealand.

Pakistan has had a golden run in 2021, dominating South Africa at home and away, followed by ending their season for now by beating Zimbabwe. But it is worth noting that Zimbabwe gave Pakistan a run for their money in the shortest format as they levelled the three-match series in the second T20I by dismissing the visitors for 99 and sealing an 18-run win. However, Babar Azam and co. came back in the third game to seal the rubber.

Rashid Latif not only called for Pakistan to play against teams like Australia, New Zealand, and England but also play an extended series since it would be an entertaining one. The 52-year old believes that with Pakistan not able to lock horns with India already due to the political tension, they should square off with other sides.

“When we face England, Australia and New Zealand, increase the Test matches because people want to see those two teams play. Don’t worry about winning and losing matches. We are already not playing against India and there are only five or six other teams that we should play,” Latif told in his Youtube channel.

Rashid Latif further stated that getting four Tests in three months is not good enough for Pakistan and that the board needs to look at the teams against whom they set up series. Latif believes that Pakistan could have played a Test against South Africa and played only one in Zimbabwe.

“Pakistan plays very few Test matches so getting four Tests in three months is good for our cricket. But while planning for future matches, PCB should look at the teams we are playing. We could have added one more Test match in the series against South Africa, while playing only one against Zimbabwe,” he added.
