Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the only three teams that are playing in the IPL from the very first season but are yet to lay their hands on the coveted title. The other two teams are Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.

However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have faced more criticism than PBKS or DC for their failure to win the tournament because of the kind of players that have represented the franchise over the years.

IPL title still away from RCB

Some of the biggest names from the game such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Shane Watson, Brendon McCullum and others have played for the Bengaluru-based outfit but have failed to guide the team to its first-ever IPL title.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have qualified for the final three times but ended up on the wrong side of the result on each occasion.

They qualified for the final for the first time in 2009 and lost the game against now-defunct Deccan Chargers. In 2011, they suffered a loss against Chennai Super Kings in the final before losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 final.

Rashid Latif's warning for RCB:

With Royal Challengers Bengaluru desperately eyeing their first IPL title, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has fired a warning for the franchise. The former cricketer has said that Royal Challengers Bengaluru should not even think about winning the IPL trophy till MS Dhoni plays for Chennai Super Kings.

It all began when former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad suggested a solution for the franchise. He stated that the Bengaluru-based outfit could win the IPL if his former Pakistan teammate Mohammad Amir plays for them.

"If Amir plays for RCB, they could win the IPL title," said Shehzad on GEO TV.

However, Latif had a different take as he said: "Till MS Dhoni is there in CSK, don't even think Royal Challengers Bengaluru can touch the IPL trophy."

Royal Challengers Bengaluru to kickoff their campaign against KKR

Meanwhile, RCB will start their campaign in the upcoming IPL 2025 by taking on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They have appointed Rajat Patidar as their new captain and will be hoping that a change in captaincy changes their fortunes as well.
