India legspinner Ravi Bishnoi has opened up on his missed hat-trick opportunity in the second T20I against Sri Lanka played at Pallekele. Bishnoi picked up two wickets on successive balls in the 17th over of the match, which put Sri Lanka on the back foot.

The youngster got the big wickets of Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga as he shattered the stumps of both batters. While Shanaka tried to cut a ball but inside-edged onto the stumps, Hasaranga tried an awful slog in his first ball to be bowled.

In the next ball, Ravi Bishnoi went for a full delivery outside off-stump which was softly defended on the front foot by Ramesh Mendis to deny the bowler a hat-track.

After the match, Ravi Bishnoi revealed the reason for his quick bowling speed. The youngster also thanked the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for praising him in the video and lauded him for his brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

"Yes, my bowling run-up is fast because I am always in a hurry. This has been my habit from the childhood. I feel hungry very quickly and that's why I eat fast despite eating less," Bishnoi said in a video posted by BCCI on X (formerly Twitter).

"It's a big thing that he has said big words for me. We share a very good bond like brothers. We are with each other for a long time. As a player, he (Arshdeep Singh) has done remarkable things as you have seen in the (T20) World Cup as well and I'm very happy for him. You have to keep a 'never give up' attitude if you are playing any sports," Bishnoi added.

When asked about his injury in the last match, Bishnoi responded that he has learned from that injury. "Hundred percent. A person always learns after getting hurt and I think that I have also learned from that," Bishnoi exclaimed.

"It was definitely a great opportunity for me" - Ravi Bishnoi

Finally, the 23-year-old also spoke about the missed hat-trick opportunity. He claimed that the team results matter more than the hat-trick and he is happy with India's win.

"Talking about that hat-trick ball, it was definitely a great opportunity for me but unfortunately, I couldn't get the hat-trick. But the hat-trick doesn't matter. My performance and the team's result matter more. So, I am very happy with that," the youngster stated.

Although Bishnoi missed the hat-trick opportunity, his double strikes in the 17th over helped India reduce Sri Lanka to a below-par 161-9. After rain stopped play, India were set a revised target of 78 runs in 8 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya played terrific cameos to help India take a 2-0 lead in the series.
