India's bowling attack came under the scanner after a frustrating day on Day 2 of the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Gabba in Brisbane, with Ravi Shastri raising concerns over their ability to execute plans effectively with the ball.

Jasprit Bumrah yet again stole the spotlight with a brilliant five-wicket haul, taking 5 wickets for 72 runs in 25 overs. The rest of the Indian bowlers failed to make an impact against Australia in the ongoing third Test at The Gabba.

Despite Nitish Reddy and Mohammed Siraj each picking up one wicket, the Indian bowlers were unable to maintain pressure on the Australian batters, allowing Travis Head and Steve Smith to pile on the runs at a fast pace in Brisbane.

Head's blistering knock of 152 runs off 160 balls and Smith's classy century pushed Australia to 405/7 by the close of Day 2 of the ongoing Gabba Test, leaving the Indian cricket team to rue missed opportunities in the crucial match that would seal the fate of the BGT 2024-25.

Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri questioned whether the Indian bowlers could execute their plans as effectively as Jasprit Bumrah, who once again proved his class and provided crucial breakthroughs to the tourists in the ongoing Gabba Test against Australia.

The former Indian head coach also mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah continued to impress with his relentless accuracy, but the rest of the Indian bowling attack was found wanting, leaking runs from both ends, raising concerns over the team's bowling strategy in the crucial third Test.

Ravi Shastri said on SEN Radio: “They were giving away runs on both sides. Bumrah has done most things right, but I think when you look at the others, you think, 'Can they execute?'”

The commentator also emphasized that the Indian bowlers need to focus on maintaining consistency and bowling on one side of the wicket. Shastri further pointed out that if a batter like Travis Head is scoring freely, the bowlers should stick to a consistent line, especially on the offside.

Defending Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, Shastri also explained that when bowlers allow easy scoring opportunities, like cutting or pulling for boundaries, it makes it difficult for the captain to strategize. The former Indian captain stressed that Indian bowlers need to put pressure on the Australian batters and force them to take risks if they want to win the third Test in Brisbane.

Shastri signed off by saying, “They have to think about how to bowl on one side of the wicket. If Head has to score, if it's the offside, then hold the line consistent. Then if he wants to go onside, he has to take a chance. When you have someone cutting you for four and pulling you for four, it becomes very hard for the captain. Then when you pitch up, he drives you for four.”
