India head coach Ravi Shastri gave his vote of approval to Dinesh Karthik’s commentary on the first day of the opening Test against England in Nottingham. The incident occurred in the first hour of the opening session when the hosts were batting. Ravi Shastri, sitting in the dressing room, gave a thumbs up to the keeper-batsman’s commentary.
Dinesh Karthik started his commentary stint during the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton. The 36-year old earned plenty of praises for his remarks and wits for performing the role well. But the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer also landed in controversy during an ODI between England and Sri Lanka recently. The reason for that he made an absurd comparison between the neighbour’s wives and bats.
Ravi Shastri a highly reputed commentator:
Aprt from being a successful coach, India head coach Ravi Shastri is a reputed commentator as well. The former spin-bowling all-rounder’s commentary during the 2011 World Cup final’s closing moments is fondly remembered by millions of passionate fans. Shastri has proved himself as an influential coach as well and would look to lead the men in blue to a Test series victory in England in 14 years and lift an ICC title in the near future.

Meanwhile, after electing to bat first, England fared decently in the first hour of the opening Test in Nottingham. Even though the hosts lost Rory Burns in the fifth ball of the innings, Zak Crawley and Dom Sibley settled the nerves by stitching a 42-run stand. Captain Joe Root arrived at the crease after Crawley’s departure. They reached 61-2 at lunch.
