Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recalled the dressing room atmosphere after India’s disastrous 36-all-out in the Adelaide Test.

Ravichandran Ashwin revealed that then-head coach Ravi Shastri lifted the team's spirits by organizing a dinner with karaoke during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Indian cricket team took on Australia in the opening Test of the four-match series in Adelaide.

Virat Kohli's men secured a valuable 53-run lead after the conclusion of the first innings. However, the Men in Blue were bowled out for their lowest score in Test cricket during the second innings.

The visiting team managed to score just 36 runs during their second innings, with none of the batters reaching double-digit scores.

Australia completed the 90-run target to take a 1-0 lead in the BGT 2020-21 series. It’s worth mentioning that the visitors secured the series victory with a 2-1 margin.

We Were Not Thinking About A Series Win - Ravichandran Ashwin

In an interview on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said that Ravi Shastri boosted team morale after their humiliating defeat in Adelaide.

Ashwin added that Shastri organized a dinner with karaoke, where he sang old Hindi songs and everyone joined in.

"We were not thinking about a series win because we were just bowled out for 36. The mood in the dressing room was a bit own. Ravi Bhai organised a team dinner. He arranged for karaoke, he started singing. He sang old Hindi songs. Everybody joined in," said Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ravichandran Ashwin said that Virat Kohli was preparing to leave to be with his wife, Anushka Sharma, for the birth of their first child. The spin bowler stated that the team focused on setting small, manageable targets before their next Test match in Melbourne.

"We were in a bubble, Virat was also getting ready to return. We were just focussing on doing well in the next Test in Melbourne. We kept small targets," Ashwin added.

Team India Clinched Famous Series Victory At The Gabba

Virat Kohli left home for personal reasons, and Ajinkya Rahane stepped in as captain after the first Test. The visiting team also suffered from several injuries during the series.

India achieved a remarkable Test series victory under Ajinkya Rahane's leadership during the 2020-21 tour of Australia.

After the Adelaide defeat, India bounced back by winning the second Test in Melbourne by eight wickets.

They continued their fight in the third Test at Sydney, where they denied Australia a victory on the final day. India chased 328 runs during the final Test at The Gabba to secure the series victory.

The Border-Gavaskar 2024-25 series between India and Australia is set to start on November 22 in Perth.

The second Test will be a day-night match at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. Brisbane and Melbourne will host the third and fourth Tests, and the series will conclude with the Sydney Test.
