Ravichandran Ashwin fumed at his former franchise, CSK and also blamed Lucknow Super Giants for lowering the stock price of Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who he thought would cost nearly 10-12 crores.

Ravi Bishnoi and Ravindra Jadeja form the new core of the spin department for the Royals. Previously, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal had formed the pair for the franchise Rajasthan Royals. He was also picked as the player of the match after he led the Royals to a second win in IPL 2026.

"It is time to give him credit," Ravichandran Ashwin lauds Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi produced a stunning effort in the field against the Gujarat Titans in a stunning chase. They had to restrict them, and leg spinner Bishnoi stepped in as their best wicket-taker, breaking all crucial partnerships.

Ravichandran Ashwin has opined that the Lucknow Super Giants did not work well with Ravi Bishnoi. He felt that the spinner would cost around 10-12 crores in the mini-auction. He felt that his mishandling by the Super Giants led to the lowering of his value in the mini-auction.

"It is time to give him credit. He has the Purple cap now, the cap looks good on his head because he had a challenging season with LSG last year. He was not even traded after that, he was just put back into the auction pool. I was so sure that he would go for 10-12 crores, and that did not happen," Ashwin explained.

Ravichandran Ashwin shames CSK for missing out on Bishnoi's comeback

The Chennai Super Kings have been slammed by former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who felt that CSK should have bought Ravi Bishnoi instead of investing in Rahul Chahar. He looked unhappy that the franchise withdrew when they breached the 7 crore mark.

"CSK pulled out at 7 crores, because they were saying that there is not much difference between Ravi Bishnoi and Rahul Chahar. The way LSG handled him, that is why Ravi Bishnoi's stock value dipped. I am eagerly waiting to see Ravi Bishnoi's comeback as Ravi Bishnoi 2.0," the 39-year-old added.

Rahul Chahar has failed to impress the Super Kings in recent outings, especially after he gave away runs at an economy rate of nearly 11 in the match against the Punjab Kings when he was brought in as the impact player.

Ravi Bishnoi leads the purple cap race in IPL 2026

Ravi Bishnoi recently got the best figures against the Gujarat Titans, breaking the former record of LSG ex-teammate Krunal Pandya, who had picked the figures of 3/11, representing LSG formerly in IPL 2024.

Bishnoi conceded 41 runs in the game against the Titans in his four overs but also picked 4 wickets, which included the big wickets of Sai Sudharsan, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia.

Bishnoi is currently leading the purple cap race with 5 wickets in 2 games. He has shared the wickets tally with Vijaykumar Vyshak, who also picked 5 wickets in the 2 games; however, Bishnoi averaged 11.40, the best in the league, hence he leads the Purple Cap race.
