Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin asked a panelist to stop when the topic of MS Dhoni came up during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel. This came after the off-spinner had announced that his channel would not cover Chennai Super Kings matches in the IPL 2025 season.
Ashwin has become more active on YouTube after his retirement. It has also sparked controversy, especially around discussions involving his IPL team, Chennai Super Kings. These issues have drawn attention and criticism. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming also spoke about the YouTube channel.
You Shouldn't Be the One Talking - Ravichandran Ashwin
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin reviewed the latest IPL 2025 matches but skipped over Chennai Super Kings’ recent games. During the discussion, a panelist mentioned MS Dhoni alongside other captains. Ashwin silenced the panelist when Dhoni's name came up.
"I'm so happy that you won the match. Ashwin, the only thing is that you've led the team a lot. The team that you've led has won the TNPL. What I feel is that leadership is very, very important. That leader is someone like Sanju, someone like Shreyas Iyer, someone like Thala Dhoni," the panellist said.
Reacting to the panellist's comments, Ashwin said, "Sshhh. Ssshhhh."
"No, you shouldn't be the one talking. I can talk. I'm an audience member," the panellist tried to clarify.
It's really sad to see Ashwin like this.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube Channel Won’t Cover CSK Games After the Controversy
Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel came under controversy after former South Africa and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) analyst Prasanna Agoram questioned CSK’s choice to play Noor Ahmad despite already having experienced spinners like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
This discussion sparked backlash and led Ashwin to stop covering Chennai Super Kings content for the remainder of IPL 2025. He confirmed that his channel would no longer feature previews or reviews of CSK matches this season.
"Given the nature of the discussions on this forum over the last week, we want to be mindful of how things can be interpreted and have chosen to step away from covering CSK games, both previews and reviews, for the rest of this season," Ashwin said in a note.
Chennai Super Kings Dropped Ravichandran Ashwin From Their Playing XI
Chennai Super Kings dropped Ravichandran Ashwin from their playing XI due to his poor form. The 38-year-old had taken just five wickets in six matches, with an average of 39.60 and an economy rate of nearly 10.
Ashwin struggled in the powerplay, which led MS Dhoni to use Khaleel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj during the early overs in the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This strategy paid off as CSK restricted LSG to 42/2 in the first six overs.
CSK had suffered five consecutive losses after their opening win against Mumbai Indians (MI). They managed to end the losing streak with a five-wicket victory over LSG. However, they are currently at the bottom of the table, with only two wins from seven matches.
