Ravichandran Ashwin Bought By Chennai Super Kings For INR 9.75 crore at IPL Auction 2025

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be a big attraction in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The Tamil Nadu ace has registered himself for the auction at a base price of INR 2 crores.
Ravichandran Ashwin plied his trade for Rajasthan Royals in the last season of the IPL. In IPL 2024, he managed to pick up a modest 9 wickets from 15 games. He has been playing for the Royals since 2022. In 2022, he picked up 12 wickets before taking 14 wickets in 2023.
The 38-year-old's journey in the IPL began in 2009. In fact, it was IPL that made him a household name in India. He made it to the Indian team only after impressing in the IPL. Ashwin played for Chennai Super Kings from 2009 to 2015. During this phase, he helped the franchise win two titles.
After the Chennai Super Kings were suspended for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Ashwin joined Rising Pune Supergiant. When the Chennai-based outfit returned in 2018, they decided against re-signing Ashwin. In 2018, Ashwin was signed up by Punjab Kings. He was also named the captain of the Punjab-based outfit.
Ahead of the 2020 season, Ashwin was traded to Delhi Capitals. He represented Delhi for two seasons before joining Rajasthan Royals. Overall, Ashwin has played 212 games so far and has taken 180 wickets. He has also scored 800 runs in the competition.

Ravichandran Ashwin will once again don the Chennai Super Kings jersey after being signed up by his former team in IPL 2025 auction. Rajasthan Royals also wanted the spinner but they decided against matching Chennai Super Kings' bid of INR 9.75 crore.
