Why did Ravichandran Ashwin retire midway?

Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin opened up about his decision to retire midway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While speaking on his YouTube show 'Ash ki baat', the 38-year-old claimed that he needed a break due to which he retired midway.

According to Ashwin, it was important to hold the decorum of the dressing room which is the reason why he didn't give any hint of retirement before announcing the decision.

"I did not talk about retirement because I was in the dressing room and it was very important for me to respect the sanctum of the dressing room. The fan war is very toxic nowadays, " he added.
