Ravichandran Ashwin Can Ask So Many Questions In T20 Cricket: R Sridhar
With only two months until India departs for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia and likely a few weeks remaining before the BCCI selection committee announces their final 15, every expert and seasoned player in the game has offered their view on the team’s makeup and the players India should choose.
Over the past 10 months, the team has also undergone numerous tests with different players in different roles. Before the BCCI announces their World Cup roster, former fielding coach R Sridhar has encouraged India to include a “famous” cricketer in their lineup.
Ravichandran Ashwin Is A legendary Bowler: R Sridhar
In an interview with Cricket.com, Sridhar gushed about Ravichandran Ashwin, describing him as a “legendary” spinner who India must have in their lineup due to his prowess in Twenty20 cricket.
Sridhar’s remark was in regard to the selection of Yuzvandra Chahal as India’s lone spinner in the lineup for the T20 World Cup, which also includes all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
“You can bowl Bhuvi and Shami twice and now that Hardik is bowling and Jadeja is an all-rounder, we have the fifth and sixth bowler covered. Now put in a leg-spinner in the mix, and that is grandmaster Chahal.
“That to me is the bowling combination India should go with. And if push comes to shove, you have the legendary R Ashwin to go back to. It’s T20 cricket and he’s a man who can ask so many questions,” he said.
However, not many people have supported Ashwin’s selection for the T20 World Cup. Former head selector Kris Srikkanth expressed his confusion regarding Ashwin’s selection for the Windies T20I series during the third T20I match between India and West Indies. He explained that Ashwin had not played in a T20I match in more than eight months.
