Ravichandran Ashwin Nominated For ICC Player Of The Month Award For February 2021

India’s ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for February. This comes after ICC on Tuesday announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month Awards for the month of February to recognize the best performances from both male and female cricketers across all forms of international cricket.

Ashwin has been in prime form with both bat and the ball for the past 2-3 months of 2021, first with his brilliance in Sydney Test against Australia and then in the first two Tests against England. Currently, Ashwin has 24 wickets in the three Tests against England.

India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant had won the men’s award in January while the women’s award went to South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail.

Ravichandran Ashwin- 24 Wickets And 176 Runs Across The Month Of February

Ravichandran Ashwin also scored a brilliant 106 runs in the second Test against England in Chennai and picked a five-wicket haul to help India win the match by 317 runs. Ashwin also picked 7 wickets in the third Test, which was a day-night Test match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

He also completed 400 wickets in Tests as India won the third Test by 10 wickets in Ahmedabad with the pink-ball, while also going past the 600 wickets mark in international cricket. Scoring a total of 176 runs across these games while also taking a total of 24 wickets, Ashwin is the deserving candidate to be nominated in the men’s category for February.

Joe Root, Kyle Mayers, Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver And Brooke Halliday Other Nominees

Alongside Ashwin, England skipper Joe Root and West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers have also been nominated for the month of February in the men’s category. While the women’s category sees England opening batter Tammy Beaumont and all-rounder Nat Sciver and New Zealand batter Brooke Halliday have been nominated for the month of February.

Joe Root has made 333 runs and picked 6 wickets against India in the ongoing Test series, including a double ton in his 100th match during the first Test in Chennai. West Indies’ Kyle Mayers scripted history by scoring a match-winning 210 to help the West Indies successfully chase 395 and win the first Test against Bangladesh, that too in his debut Test match.

Tammy Beaumont has 231 runs in 3 ODIs for England against New Zealand in the ongoing series and has passed fifty in each of the innings. Brooke Halliday of New Zealand also played 3 ODIs against England and scored a total of 110 runs and took 2 wickets in these games. She also became the fourth woman to score the fifties in her first two ODI matches.

Nat Sciver has 5 wickets and 93 runs for England in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand.
