Ravichandran Ashwin Revolted Against Virat Kohli And Complained To The BCCI- Reports. Virat Kohli’s decision of giving up the T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup was caused by a revolt led by spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin as media reports suggest.
Just days after India’s T20 World Cup squad was announced, Kohli came with a shocking announcement that he would give up the captaincy for India in the shortest format of the game.
While announcing his decision in a statement uploaded on his social media accounts, Kohli cited that he aimed to manage his workload and he would continue to lead the team in ODIs and Test cricket.
Ravichandran Ashwin complained about Virat Kohli to BCCI
According to a report by news agency IANS, a senior player had complained to the BCCI secretary against Virat Kohli for making him feel insecure in the team.
The Indian skipper had reportedly accused the player of not showing enough intent in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in June this year.
In the report, it is mentioned that some of the sources have mentioned that the player was Tamil Nadu off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
This matter looks more serious if the reports turn out to be true as Ashwin was benched in all the four-Test matches against England in the pending five-Test series.
Virat Kohli wanted Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin in India’s T20 World Cup squad
If the sources in the report are to be believed then Kohli had a fallout with the selectors for the inclusion of Ashwin in the T20 World Cup squad as the Indian captain wanted leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the mega event.
There are also speculations that Kohli might be removed from the ODI captaincy as well and vice-captain Rohit Sharma will take the complete charge of white-ball cricket for India.
In the ongoing IPL 2021, Kohli also announced that he would step down from the captaincy role of Royal Challengers Bangalore after leading the team for close to nine seasons.
