Ravindra Jadeja becomes first-ever cricketer to achieve this historic feat in World Test Championship

Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round performance in the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series has been a major reason behind India’s 3-1 lead in the series. Rohit Sharma and Co. registered a five-wicket win in the fourth Test match played in Ranchi courtesy of Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill’s calm partnership.
Ravindra Jadeja has been brilliant for India with both the bat and the ball in the ongoing series and turned out to be one of the real difference-makers between India and England in the ongoing series. Jadeja has scored a total of 217 runs from two matches at an average of 43.4 whereas he is currently the third-highest wicket-taker of the series with 17 wickets from six matches.
Ravindra Jadeja creates history in the World Test Championship
The Indian all-rounder picked up five and scored 16 runs in the Ranchi Test which helped him complete 100 wickets in the World Test Championship. Ravindra Jadeja became the first cricketer to score more than 1000 runs and pick 100 wickets in the World Test Championship. Jadeja has scored 1536 runs and picked 100 wickets. He is followed by his spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin who has picked 165 wickets and has scored 948 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja missed out on the second IND vs ENG Test due to his hamstring injury whereas he ended up being India’s highest run scorer in the first Test match. Jadeja managed to be adjudged the Player of the Match in the third Test wherein he picked up a fifer and also scored a hundred.
Ravindra Jadeja has been an exceptional part of the Indian cricket team for the past few years and has worked on his both batting and bowling skills. Jadeja has been part of India’s many famous wins wherein he has helped the team get over the line with eminent performances.
A total of ten bowlers have picked up more than 100 wickets in the history of the World Test Championship. Out of ten, three players belong to India including Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah. Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc are the three Australian bowlers on the list followed by English pacers James Anderson and Stuart Broad. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand Test skipper Tim Southee are also part of the list.
Ashwin, India’s most successful bowler in WTC history, will have the opportunity to join Jadeja on the elite list during the fifth Test. Ashwin needs 52 runs to reach 1000 for India in the World Test Championship.
As India have an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the five-match series, the Indian team will want to win the fifth Test match in Dharamsala and win the series by 4-1. England displayed a flop batting display in their second innings of the fourth Test match and were wrapped up for 145 runs. The Three Lions have competed in all four games so far, however, they have been more dependent on individual performances.
On the other hand, the Indian youngsters have risen to the occasion in the ongoing series and have played a major role in helping India win the series.
