Ambati Rayudu and Aaron Finch blamed the Chennai Super Kings for Ravindra Jadeja’s struggles in the ongoing IPL 2025. Ambati Rayudu and Aaron Finch both have slammed the CSK’s move to bring Ravindra Jadeja out of his comfort zone, especially when they are struggling this season.
The think tank of Chennai Super Kings promoted Jadeja to the number four position, and that move backfired badly, as both the franchise and the all-rounder struggled. In eight matches, the left-handed batter scored only 145 runs with the help of one fifty and scalped only five wickets so far.
Ahead of CSK’s next IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25 in Chennai, Ambati Rayudu pointed out that Jadeja has always excelled in the last 5 overs, but moving up the order has left him slightly confused with the bat in the ongoing season.
Ravindra Jadeja knows the patterns of batting those last 30 balls: Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu said on ESPNCricinfo’s Time Out show, “Ravindra Jadeja is someone who has always batted well from the 15th to the 20th over. He has done that. He knows the patterns of batting those last 30 balls. So suddenly, when he came up to the order, he looked a little confused. He still wanted to get to that 15th over and then take on the bowler. So, he is not someone who would come on and take on the bowling right away. So, it is very, very important that you get players who can do that.”

Rayudu highlighted the need for players like Shivam Dube to step up and adapt to the new approach for more aggressive batting earlier in the innings. The former Indian batter said that CSK now has explosive batter Dewald Brevis, and he should come into the playing XI against the SRH. The former CSK batter felt it was just a little mindset shift that they needed to get in.

Meanwhile, former Australian captain Aaron Finch also felt that promoting Ravindra Jadeja up the order might not be the best move for the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2025. Finch mentioned that Jadeja is not the type of player like AB de Villiers, who can quickly shift momentum.
Aaron Finch said during the same discussion, “Yeah, I think that it is probably the wrong move. Because, like Rohit has said, Ravindra Jadeja is just somebody who knows how to navigate the last few overs. He has never been a player who has had a high strike rate in his first 10 balls.”

Aaron Finch says Ravindra Jadeja is not AB de Villiers
Finch explained that if a team is on the back foot in a game, they are taking the momentum away, but they are not in a position to transfer the pressure back onto the opposition so quickly. He noted that AB de Villiers is one of the greatest batters at number four who has the ability to start hitting the bowlers from the first ball, but Jadeja is definitely not in this league.
The former Australian captain recalled that when AB de Villiers walked out to bat, his intent and his energy were always high from the start, so bowlers would have to face the wrath if they bowled poorly. Finch signed off by saying, “You bowl well most times, and he will still hurt you. But he transfers the pressure back really quickly. So, all of a sudden, his team then gets momentum, and you are away. So, I just don't think that Jadeja is that type of player.”
