Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly close to trading their star all-rounder and former captain Ravindra Jadeja to Rajasthan Royals (RR) to bring Sanju Samson on board ahead of the IPL 2026 auction in December this year.
If this deal actually happens, Ravindra Jadeja will return to the Rajasthan Royals, where his IPL journey began 16 years ago. He was part of the Royals squad that won the very first IPL season in 2008 under Shane Warne’s leadership. He also played for them in the IPL 2009.
Ravindra Jadeja’s future with CSK uncertain amid rumors of trade to Rajasthan Royals
However, there were reports that Jadeja had already refused to leave the CSK, and now his bold move sparked rumors that all is not well between him and the franchise. Amidst the trade buzz, Jadeja’s verified Instagram account, “royalnavghan,” had suddenly disappeared.

Not just that, Jadeja’s old video resurfaced online, where the Indian all-rounder was seen praising the Chennai Super Kings and the team management for providing him the support, love, and freedom throughout his journey since 2012. Jadeja has stressed that CSK will always be his home.
Even in the video, the star all-rounder had made it clear that he won’t represent another franchise in the IPL other than CSK. Jadeja had stated, “I can’t play for another IPL team. Till I play cricket, it will be only for CSK.” Now, this clip is going viral across social media platforms.
I can't play for other IPL team.

Why letting Ravindra Jadeja go could be CSK's biggest mistake yet
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja’s importance to Chennai Super Kings goes far beyond the numbers. With over 3,200 runs, 170 wickets, and unmatched brilliance in the field, he remains one of the most complete players in IPL history. He is a true three-dimensional cricketer who continues to deliver in every department.
At Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Jadeja has played 55 matches, where he scalped 37 wickets and scored more than 500 runs. The stats may not look extraordinary, but his impact on the team has always been massive.
Whether it’s controlling the game with his spin or finishing off tense chases with the bat, Jadeja has been CSK’s go-to man for years. Jadeja’s deep understanding of Chepauk’s slow, turning pitches gives the franchise a huge home advantage.
Trading Ravindra Jadeja could be a gamble CSK can’t afford!!
Today, finding an Indian all-rounder who can bowl quality spin, bat responsibly, and field like lightning is rare. Jadeja brings all of that to the table, making him an invaluable asset to CSK. With rumors of a trade in the air, it is hard to imagine CSK without their most trusted player.
Jadeja is not just another all-rounder, but he is the franchise’s top wicket-taker, one of their best finishers, and someone who knows their home conditions better than anyone.
If Chennai ever decides to part ways with him, they wouldn’t just be losing a player but also losing the key wheel of their team and the man who has defined their success for more than a decade. This move could backfire, as Sanju Samson has a less-than-ordinary record at Chepauk in the IPL.
