The India National Cricket Team is currently playing against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team in the first of the two-match Test series at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, Galle. Shubman Gill’s side have an advantage over the home side. During India's second innings of the match, substitute fielder Pasindu Sooriyabandara took a brilliant catch to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja.

India opted to bat first after winning the toss and scored 462 runs in the first innings. Sri Lanka batters fell like nine pins until a solid 126-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Sonal Dinusha and Niroshan Dickwella, as they scored 100 and 80 respectively, which helped the home side to save the follow-on in the match.

Ravindra Jadeja was batting at 9 runs as Lahiru Kumara came into bowl the 42nd over. In the 42.3rd over, the ball hit the top edge of Jadeja’s bat and was taken brilliantly at deep backward square leg by substitute fielder Pasindu Sooriyabandara. This was another failure with the bat for the veteran batter as he was out for 9 off 19 deliveries.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara ran towards his left and dived to complete the catch with both hands. Sri Lanka needed this wicket desperately as the lead had gone over 350 runs and India had complete control over the game. Jaddu did not have the best of outings in both innings as he scored 13 off 25 in the first innings.
