Ravindra Jadeja has exceptional talent - Anil Kumble

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has scripted many famous Test wins for India with his impressive bowling performance. However, Jadeja has also scored some useful runs with the bat as well and is nearing the 3000 runs mark in the red ball format. Ravindra Jadeja is part of India’s squad for the IND vs ENG Test series and is currently unbeaten on 81 runs after the end of Day 2 of the first Test.

India ended Day 2 of the first IND vs ENG Test match 421/7 in 110 overs. Jadeja slammed his 20th Test half-century and will aim to reach his 4th Test century. Ravindra Jadeja is just 115 runs away from touching the 3000 Test runs mark and will become the only third Indian all-rounder after Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin to have more than 250 Test wickets and 3000 runs.

Former Indian spinner Anil Kumble was also impressed by Ravindra Jadeja’s batting skills and stated that the development of his batting has earned him a promotion in the Indian cricket team. Kumble also reflected on Ravindra Jadeja’s first-class career, where he scored triple hundreds for Saurashtra, and added that he had the batting talent for a long time.

Anil Kumble said on Jio Cinema, “He was brilliant; I mean he always knew the exceptional talent that he has. He scored triple hundreds in first-class cricket, playing for Saurashtra and so, in that sense, you always knew that he has the batting talent,”

“It’s just the consistency that he has shown, not just in India but even outside when he has batted at No.6 and 7. Sometimes, he even bats at No.5, in the WTC final, he moved up ahead of a batter. That’s the kind of ability Jadeja has had. Not just with the ball, we all know about the quality of the bowler, but his consistent batting performances have certainly helped India to be where they are.”

Ravindra Jadeja has also brought his best against England and has scored runs at an average of 35.20 against the Three Lions. Jadeja has scored 880 runs in 17 Tests and has also slammed a century. His highest score is 104 which he achieved during the 2022 Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Ravindra Jadeja also picked up 3 wickets in the first innings and played an important role in wrapping up the England batting lineup. Also, Jadeja shares an interesting chemistry with Ravichandran Ashwin and also has been one of the best bowling duos in the world.

India would be aiming to reach the 500-run mark on Day 2 of the match and also put themselves in a brilliant position in the match. India currently lead by 175 runs, and will want to stretch the margin to over 200 runs and will want to defeat England by an innings.

The IND vs ENG Test series is very important from the perspective of the World Test Championship and India would want to win the series and add the necessary points to the standings. India have played the WTC final twice.
