Former Australia opener Aaron Finch has picked a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) senior player who has the most to prove in the remaining games of the IPL 2025 season. The commentator stated that Ravindra Jadeja has the most to prove in the Chennai Super Kings at the business end of the ongoing T20 tournament.
The Men in Yellow faltered once again with the bat in front of their home crowd at Chepauk Stadium on Friday, April 25. After being put in to bat, they were bowled out for just 154 in 19.5 overs. In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) managed to cross the finish line in the second-last over with five wickets in hand.
Ravindra Jadeja Has Got a Lot to Prove With the Bat Still - Aaron Finch
During a discussion on ESPNCricinfo, Aaron Finch was asked which senior CSK player had to prove himself in the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Finch said that Ravindra Jadeja has been playing out of position in the batting order. He added that the all-rounder still has plenty to prove with the bat.
"Well, I think it's Jaddu. I mean, his batting hasn't been what we've expected from him. He's batting out of position. That's not his fault," Finch said on ESPNCricinfo.
"He's just doing the job that he's been asked. He's bowling okay, as he always does. He bowls the same every single game that he turns up, but I think he's got a lot to prove with the bat still," he added.
Ravindra Jadeja Failed to Deliver With the Bat in the Recent Match vs SRH
Ravindra Jadeja was once again pushed up to No. 4 in the batting order during CSK's home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He struggled against the spinners in the middle overs. His innings ended in the 10th over when spinner Kamindu Mendis bowled him for 21 runs off 17 balls, including two boundaries.
After retiring from T20Is following the 2024 T20 World Cup, Jadeja was retained by CSK for ₹18 crore ahead of the auction. He has had a modest campaign so far despite being a senior player. Jadeja is currently CSK's third-highest run-getter this season, scoring 166 runs at an average of 27.67 and a strike rate of 125.75.
CSK Are at the Bottom of the Points Table, With Just Two Wins
Sunrisers Hyderabad made the most of their decision to bowl first by dismantling Chennai Super Kings' batting at Chepauk. Ayush Mhatre (30 off 17 balls) and Dewald Brevis (42 off 25) chipped in with contributions, but none of the CSK batters crossed the 25-run mark, as the team collapsed for 154.
In response, Ishan Kishan (44) and Kamindu Mendis (32) helped SRH comfortably chase down the target in the 19th over.
CSK are at the bottom of the points table, with just two wins from nine matches and only four points to their name. With just five games remaining, even winning all of them may not be enough unless other results go their way. CSK must also improve their poor net run rate (NRR) of -1.302.
