Former Indian paceman Zaheer Khan has heaped praises on all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for consistently raising the bar with his compelling performances. Ravindra Jadeja, who returned to the playing eleven for the second Test against Australia in Melbourne, played as crucial a part as Ajinkya Rahane, helping India regain control. According to Zaheer Khan, Jadeja is repaying the faith the Indian management has placed on him.
Ravindra Jadeja batted wonderfully in the white-ball games against Australia; however, he could not play the last two T20Is. It was as a result of concussion and hamstring injury suffered in the first. And being fit, Jadeja returned for the second Test, which was as good as a must-win game for India. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 40 and has shared an unbroken century stand with Ajinkya Rahane.
Zaheer Khan credited Ravindra Jadeja’s batting, claiming that his contribution was massive. The 42-year old further said that India deciding to play Jadeja at number seven is a considerably big thing and that an all-rounder provides an excellent balance to the team.
“It was a huge contribution by Jadeja as a batsman. If the team management has decided to play him at No.7, it is a very big thing. We talk often that an all-rounder changes the balance of a team,” Zaheer told Sony Sports Network.
We have seen that he has improved his batting a lot: Zaheer Khan
Zaheer Khan further said that not only has the Indian team management placed faith on Ravindra Jadeja but the Saurashtra all-rounder has repaid it. The former left-arm seamer added that Jadeja has improved his batting hugely in the last few years and if he could do it consistently, it would be massive.
“From that point of view, they are able to show that faith in Jadeja and he is living up to that belief. That confidence has also come because of his numbers in the last two years. We have seen that he has improved his batting a lot. And if he is successful in grabbing this chance, it will be a huge thing,” he added.
