Former Indian seamer Ajit Agarkar has heaped high praise on champion all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, stating that with the kind of form that the all-rounder is in, Chennai Super Kings essentially have three players rolled into one in Jadeja.
Ravindra Jadeja has been at the peak of his powers in all facets of his game in the past few years and his batting resurgence, especially in T20 cricket, has been a revelation.
Jadeja, who returned to competitive cricket after a gap of four months, can do no wrong in the IPL thus far. In 5 matches, the Saurashtra all-rounder has smashed 102 runs at a strike rate of 192.45 and has taken 5 wickets at an average of 21.08 and an economy rate of 6.06. And, if this isn’t enough, he has been absolutely sensational in the field, having claimed numerous stunning catches and outrageous run-outs.
‘Incredible. At the moment, there’s nothing that he can’t do. Every ball seems to go to him in the field, wherever MS Dhoni puts him. He’s not missing the stumps at all. Obviously, he never really drops any catches. But with the bat… we know what he can do with the ball everytime there is a little bit of help in the pitch but he’s being devastating with the bat now,” Ajit Agarkar said on Star Sports.
Ravindra Jadeja was at the height of his powers as an all-rounder in the last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore where he smashed a whirlwind 28-ball 62* which included a record 37 runs in the final over against Harshal Patel.
He then followed it up with figures of 3/13 in four overs where he knocked over the two big overseas guns in Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers besides affecting a run-out of Dan Christian via a direct hit.
”That last over changed the game against RCB and his form is like three players packed into one. It must be a relief for MS Dhoni that he’s in such good form,” Agarkar added.
