Ravindra Jadeja placed on CSK’s retention list alongside MS Dhoni amid RR trade rumours

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend Suresh Raina has said that the five-time champions should definitely retain the champion all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

Suresh Raina has also named a few big players that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should release to free up some purse and enter the auction with a good amount of cash in their kitty.

The journey of the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is likely to end very soon, as several media outlets have reported that he is set to be traded to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

As per reports, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be giving Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in exchange for the superstar wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson.

If this actually takes place, it will go down in history as one of the biggest trades ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as it involves two high-profile Indian players.

Some reports also claimed that Ravindra Jadeja could be offered the captaincy by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) as their captain, Sanju Samson, will move to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

In a chat with JioStar, Raina said that Noor Ahmad, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are must-haves on CSK's retention list.

"Noor Ahmad should be retained. He's a mystery spinner, so he must be kept. MS Dhoni should definitely be retained; he is playing this year, so he should remain with the team.

"Ruturaj Gaikwad should continue as captain. Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a gun player for CSK. He has done really, really well for the team over the years, so 'Sir Ravindra Jadeja' has to be there."

Notably, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that MS Dhoni will be playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Devon Conway should be released - Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina further stated that the Kiwi Devon Conway should he released by the franchise alongside the Indian all-rounders Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda.

He added that Conway, Hooda, and Shankar were given consistent opportunities by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) but they failed to repay the faith of the team and didn't perform as it wss expected from them.

"Devon Conway should be released. CSK need a local opener, which they will look for in the mini-auction. Vijay Shankar has already received plenty of chances. So I think CSK should release him as well. Deepak Hooda should be released, too," Raina said.

"There are a lot of players available in the mini-auction who can provide the same combination for the team. These players got their chances last year, and we saw how they played. So, probably CSK will have to look for someone new."
