Legendary all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, from CSK, has played for the franchise for over 12 years and has finally been swapped in a deal involving Sanju Samson with the Rajasthan Royals. The two teams have reportedly initiated the process.
IPL will soon be seeing the franchises announce their list of players retained ahead of the next season. The 15th of November has been slotted as the date to make such announcements.
Chennai Super Kings have been one of the major teams that have actively been looking to have former Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson as a wicket-keeper in the side.
The two franchises have finalized Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson's trade deal
Rajasthan Royals agreed to the Sanju Samson move from the squad, as the player had asked the franchise to release him to explore further options in the tournament. They explored trade offers from several franchises like the Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants as well.
Now, the Chennai Super Kings have finally landed a deal with the Rajasthan Royals on the seasoned Indian star. The Royals have asked CSK for two of their most veteran stars, Ravindra Jadeja and the World Cup-winning all-rounder Sam Curran.
Both CSK and the Royals have finalized a deal between Sanju Samson and the two CSK players. They have initiated the process, and the trade talks will take nearly 48 hours to be formalized.
"Consent has been obtained from all three players, and the Expression of Interest process has been initiated. All three have signed on the dotted line, but the process will take some time to culminate," a franchise official said.
Moreover, the rules suggest that an NOC is needed if any trade includes an overseas player, and since one of the three cricketers, Sam Curran, is an overseas player, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) may need to be part of the process.

After Jadeja's departure, will CSK be desperate for the Washington Sundar trade?
Ravindra Jadeja, the seasoned CSK all-rounder, will be the second spinner missing from the Chennai Super Kings squad ahead of the upcoming season. Ravichandran Ashwin retired from the IPL and will no longer be part of the CSK XI.
On the other hand, Jadeja played a special season with the bat for the Super Kings alongside his bowling prowess. He scored 301 runs last season, averaging nearly 33.44. He also picked up 10 wickets in the season.
CSK had earlier explored options with the Gujarat Titans and Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar as a part of a trade; however, the Titans never looked interested in accepting any such deal. Jadeja and Ashwin's departure reduces CSK's spin deck to just Noor Ahmed as a frontline spinner.
Ravindra Jadeja to add experience to Rajasthan Royals' spin deck
Ravindra Jadeja played for the Rajasthan Royals between 2008-09 and was part of the Shane Warne-led title-winning side in the inaugural season. Though used primarily as a batter by the Rajasthan Royals, he had a convincing season with the bat and ball from 2009 and continued his stellar run for the Kochi Tuskers before making a move to CSK.
He scored 430 runs for the Royals in 27 games with 6 wickets to his name. If the franchise considers parting ways with Maheesh Theekshana or Wanindu Hasaranga, then Ravindra Jadeja would emerge as the lead spinner in the side. Even if the trio plays for the Royals, Jadeja, with all that experience, will lead his home side.
