It has been over a month since RCB's joy of maiden title in the IPL was cut short by the tragic stampede that occurred at the celebration event organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

After Royal Challengers Bangalore ended their 18-year-long trophy drought, a victory celebration was arranged for the champions by the Karnataka State Cricket Association at the home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

A large crowd gathered to celebrate RCB's victory, as they are often known as the franchise with the highest fan base in India. A major stampede situation arose due to the mismanagement in crowd control, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 11 people, and several others were also injured in the chaos.

RCB announced compensation for the families of the victims

As an immediate effect of the tragic incident, Royal Challengers Bangalore announced a compensation of INR 10 lakh for every family of the deceased. This compensation was followed by another INR 5 lakh announced by the Karnataka Cricket Association, which was largely held responsible for the misconduct caused during the arrangements.

Alongside this major step taken by the RCB management, another separate fund called RCB Cares was created to support the Royal Challengers Bangalore fans who were injured in this tragic incident.

The official document stated that Royal Challengers Bangalore is not attempting to compensate for human lives monetarily.

"We want to emphasize that this compensation is 'not intended to determine or replace the value of human life', but rather to serve as a gesture of support and solidarity during such challenging times," clarified RCB in the official notice.

The victim's family claims a Lack of action from the Karnataka Government and Royal Challengers Bangalore

Almost a month has passed since the tragic incident; one of the family members, in an exclusive interview with Republic TV, has shared his disgust over the lack of action from the authorities.

Harish Kumar M Shetty, uncle of one of the deceased victims, Chinmayi Shetty, not only criticized the mismanagement but also accused the government of not taking responsibility for the treacherous incident.

He also has a say over the amount of the compensation. The Karnataka government has not taken any steps for the victims yet, as talks of increasing the compensation have received no official confirmation.

“The Karnataka government has not decided on compensation for the victims yet. While there have been talks about increasing the compensation, nothing has been officially confirmed. I’m not sure if RCB and the Karnataka government will approve it or not,” said the victim's relative, as per Republic media sources.

RCB responds to accusations

In response to the accusations made by the family member of one of the victims of not providing the financial assistance despite public promises, the Royal Challengers Bangalore management backed their ground.

Royal Challengers Bangalore refused to accept such claims, as they claimed to have transferred a huge INR 25 lakhs to the families of all the 11 deceased victims as promised on the 1st of July. This was also clarified from their end that the money was sent via bank transfer with assistance from the Advocate General's Office.
