Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli recalled the team's struggles earlier in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Virat Kohli expressed satisfaction over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's performance in May.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru started the tournament with a loss against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Faf du Plessis-led team suffered seven losses in their first eight matches. They spent most of the time at the bottom of the table in the ongoing tournament.
Then, the 2016 IPL runner-up won five consecutive matches to be in contention for a playoff berth. RCB is in the sixth position in the IPL table with 12 points from 13 matches. Bengaluru must secure a win and surpass CSK's net run rate (NRR) to qualify for the playoffs.
Virat Kohli leads the race for the orange cap in the IPL 2024. The star batter has scored 661 runs in 13 innings at an average of 66.10 and a strike rate of 155.16. He has smashed five fifties and one century, with a best score of 113* against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The Month Of May Has Been Very Good - Virat Kohli
Speaking to Mr. Nags on the RCB insider’s show, Virat Kohli stated that April had been challenging for the team. However, he expressed satisfaction with the team's performance in May, describing it as a turnaround from a dark period.
"The month of May has been very good. In April, I thought we were going into a very dark place. We found a ray of sunlight in May. We are glad that we made the fans happy again," Kohli said in a conversation with Mr Nags.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on the Chennai Super Kings in their last match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 18. The home team will be eliminated from the tournament if the match is washed out due to rain in Bengaluru.
