Former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Varun Aaron believes that the upcoming much-awaited IPL 2024 clash between RCB and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be dominated by the legendary MS Dhoni, saying everything seems to be leading up to this moment.

The former pacer from Jharkhand further mentioned that Dhoni has a fondness for playing at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium, where the former CSK skipper played some epic innings, and when the two teams lock horns against each other on May 18, it will be “the MS show” in Bengaluru.

Aaron also recalled one of Dhoni’s memorable performances at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he had almost won the game for CSK by scoring around 20-21 runs in the final over against Umesh Yadav, but they eventually fell just one run short of the target against RCB.

It's going to be the MS show: Varun Aaron on RCB vs CSK Match

Varun Aaron said on Star Sports: “I have a feeling it's going to be the MS show this game, because it's all building up to this. I just feel it's going to be that way because he loves the Chinnaswamy stadium. He's played some epic innings there."

"I remember him pull up some crazy even once they fell short by one run that last over against Umesh Yadav, which is actually etched in my memory. I never forget that he scored 20-21 runs single-handedly of the last over, so MS Dhoni at Chinnaswamy stadium is really, really dangerous.”

The former Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer also revealed that Dhoni has an exceptionally high pain tolerance. The former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator stated that Dhoni is one of those players who can bear significant pain and push through injuries, effectively putting them out of his mind while on the field.

Aaron signed off by saying, “Also. He's one of those guys who has a really high pain threshold and bites the bullet to make sure he forgets about his injury.” Notably, Dhoni has so far played 9 matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium against RCB, and amassed 376 runs at an impressive average of 125.33 and a strike rate of 184.31.

Dhoni has also hit four half-centuries at this venue. In the ongoing IPL 2024, the CSK legend has so far managed 161 runs in 10 innings while batting down the order at a remarkable strike rate of 226.66, which highlights the impact of his brief yet crucial cameos for the defending champions in the tournament.

Well, the RCB vs CSK clash is very important for both teams, as they are vying for a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) already qualified for the top four of the lucrative T20 tournament.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) already pushed CSK down in the standings to the fourth spot, and they now have one more game in the league stage to take their tally to 17 points, so CSK will have to beat RCB to have any hope of retaining the title.
