RCB vs CSK: Virat Kohli to be reappointed as RCB captain? Harbhajan Singh namedrops MS Dhoni in a remarkable suggestion

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh came up with a massive statement related to the captaincy of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He urged the franchise to give Virat Kohli the captaincy again as the batter knows how cricket should be played. 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have had a tremendous run since the last few games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. After having a horrible start to the season, they made a sensational comeback, winning 5 games on the trot and keeping themselves alive for playoffs. 

One of the key architects behind that has been Virat Kohli. The opening batter has been at his exceptional best with the bat and has played magnificently well for his team in almost every game. The opening batter has shown remarkable consistency in the league as well. 

Apart from this, his energy on the field has been exceptional as it has lifted the entire contingent of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with 661 runs in 13 innings at a strike-rate of 155.16. 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have a fair chance to qualify for the playoffs. However, they need some results to go their way. If they don't qualify for the playoffs, this will mark their 17th year for them without a trophy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

Harbhajan Singh pointed out that if Royal Challengers Bengaluru don't qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League, then they should rope in some Indian player to lead the team. He added that Virat Kohli should be given the captaincy. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained: 

“If they don’t qualify, they should look to get some Indian guy. Why not bring Virat Kohli back as captain? As Dhoni has a lot of impact in Chennai, Virat Kohli is a big leader, he knows the kind of cricket they need to play."

Harbhajan Singh also lauded Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their aggressive performance in the last stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League. He believes that they are playing, and they need Virat Kohli as skipper. He added: 

“Now they are playing with a lot of aggression, a lot of intent and that is what Virat Kohli brings. I would like to see Virat Kohli leading the side going forward."

To qualify for the playoffs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru need to make sure that they win their last game of the tournament. But this won't be enough for them as they need some other results to go their way in the Indian Premier League. 

They would want, LSG, SRH, and DC to lose one of their remaining games. This will keep all the teams on 14 points. If the Faf du Plessis-led side then beat Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs or chase target in 18.1 overs then they will pip the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side on NRR and bag the fourth position on the table.
