Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli explained what he does and how he reacts to the criticism he faced and still faces in his splendid cricketing career.

Over the years, expert pundits and a sect of fans on social media have targeted Virat Kohli for various things. Early on it was his aggressive attitude that used to face criticism, then his on-field behavior, and then his weakness against outside off-stump deliveries.

In IPL 2024, Virat Kohli became subject to a fresh new set of criticism related to his strike rate and his approach to bat in a T20 game.

Many former cricketers bashed Kohli for the same reason but the batter, like he always does, fought back in style and shut off all the criticism. Tonight he has the chance of shutting off his critics once again if he can help RCB beat CSK to qualify for the play-offs.

What did Virat Kohli say about handling criticism?

While speaking to Jio Cinema recently, Virat Kohli spoke in depth about a lot of topics. From the worst moments of his cricketing career, to the World Cup final loss in 2023 and from his current form to MS Dhoni playing his final IPL season. One of the questions that was asked Kohli was how he handles criticism and how he cuts off the outside noise.

Recently he got into a cold war of words with former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who had asked him to not react to outside noise if he's unbothered about it. Virat Kohli had lashed out at the commentators sitting at the comm box and criticizing him for his mindset. His comments had not landed well to Gavaskar who bashed the cricketer on live TV via Star Sports.

And when asked about how he handles all that, Virat Kohli replied that he doesn't need to react to anything or tell anyone about his caliber. Kohli then gave a message to his critics, stating that he didn't learn anything from them as to how he can help his team win games and how he can contribute to the team's betterment.

That he learned everything on his own, by observing, practicing, and failing, he doesn't owe any explanation to anyone in his cricket career.

"I don't need to react, I don't need to tell anyone what kind of player I am. I didn't ask to anyone how to win the match, I learned by seeing, practice & failing. So seeing that moment and living that moment is different things completely." - Virat Kohli said via Jio Cinema.

Kohli and RCB's play-off hopes in their own hands

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and RCB's hopes of IPL 2024 qualification currently lie in their own hands. Firstly, Bengaluru must win their game against CSK later tonight at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. Secondly, those 2 points should come with a big margin with respect to their net run rate as it will be the decisive factor for their qualification.

They can't afford to lose the game but if rain plays its part today, then Chennai will qualify with 15 points.
