Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli continues to be a symbol of versatility and change, showing his determination to refine his game for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Kohli credited clarity, conviction, and staying mentally switched on for his red-hot form in the league. The dashing right-hander is currently the leading run-scorer in the ongoing IPL 2024, with 634 runs in 12 innings for the RCB so far.

Speaking about his sensational batting form in the tournament, Kohli stressed that he is not someone who will just sit there and say, ‘This is the way I play and not try to improve on those areas that I need help in’.

The former RCB skipper also said that his vast experience has helped him hone skills for effectiveness in practice. He revealed that he is practicing less nowadays but still stays mentally switched on, and it has been doing wonders for him.

Meanwhile, Kohli also opened up about the shots, including the much-talked-about slog sweep against the spinners he played during his match-winning knock of 92 runs off 47 balls against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamshala.

He has been using the slog sweep against spinners very often this season with the aim of exploiting field placements to maintain a high strike rate.

Virat Kohli said in a video shared by IPL on its official X handle: “For me it's still quality over quantity. That's something I try to replicate in every practice session that I go through. And some added challenges in terms of improving your own game because it's an ever-evolving process. Brought out the slog sweep to the spinners.

Something that I just mentally put myself in that situation. I just felt like I need to take a bit more risk because I'm always looking to expose that side of the field against the spin. Which for me has been a massive factor in this IPL. I think it just takes a bit more conviction and to take out that thought that props up, what if you get out?

So, I think I've been managing to stay ahead of that thought in this IPL. And that's really helped me through the middle overs keeping my strike rate up and keeping the scoring rate going for the team as well.”

Notably, Kohli will be seen in action on Sunday, May 12, when the RCB will take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the do-or-die IPL 2024 clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The RCB opener would be looking to make the most of the home conditions to continue his scorching form with the bat to help his team earn two crucial points against the DC.

RCB is still in the race for the IPL 2024 Playoffs, but they have to win their remaining two games with a big margin and hope for other results to go on their way to make it to the top-4 after early setbacks in the lucrative T20 tournament.
