Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli played a crucial hand for his team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The match between the two teams took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In the chase of 148 runs, Virat Kohli took his team off to a flying start with the bat. The opening batter came out all guns blazing and made sure that he put the opposition on the backfoot right from the start and set the tone for his team in the chase at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli along with Faf du Plessis (64) wreaked havoc across the Gujarat Titans bowlers and added 92 runs for the opening partnership inside the powerplay. But once the skipper got out, the Shubman Gill-led side made a solid comeback and picked four wickets to put the hosts under pressure.

However, Virat Kohli at the one end tried to keep his team in the hunt. However, he too couldn't carry on for long as Noor Ahmed removed him to silence the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The leg-spinner removed the batter in the 11th over and put his team in the top position.

Noor Ahmad bowled a floated delivery that was full and outside off. Virat Kohli leaned in and opened the face of the bat as he attempted to play it into the covers. The ball spun away and took a faint outside edge that was pouched safely by Wrddhiman Saha behind the stumps.

Not only the crowd, but Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma, who was sitting in the stands, looked stunned. She couldn't believe what happened as his wicket saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru lose their 6th wicket in 20 minutes.

Here's the video:

Virat Kohli played a vital hand for his team as he ended with a score of 42 runs off 27 balls. The opening batter batted with a strike rate of over 155 and also hit 2 fours and 4 sixes, which came in the powerplay.

After Virat Kohli got out, Dinesh Karthik (21*) took the onus to himself and made sure that he took his team home. Swapnil Singh (15*) supported him well as Royal Challengers Bengaluru chased the target with 4 wickets and over 6 overs to spare.

"The way Faf and Virat batted.." - Dinesh Karthik in awe of opening batters

Dinesh Karthik believes that it was a great effort by their bowlers to restrict Gujarat Titans to 19/3 in the powerplay. He also was in awe of the way Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis batted, saying that he enjoyed how the duo went about their things. Speaking to broadcasters, he stated:

"No matter what the pitch is, to keep the score under the score we kept at the end of six overs is quite a task and I thought they bowled beautifully today. The way Faf and Virat batted, I don't think you could have played some kind of shots if you were batting first. Also, the skill that both of them have, I enjoyed how they went about things."

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be next seen in action when they will take on Punjab Kings on Thursday (9th May).
