Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri opened up about the ‘No handshake’ saga between Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC). He gave a blunt response, saying that it all depends on the kind of relationship they share.

The No handshake saga between RCB batter Virat Kohli and DC’s director of cricket Sourav Ganguly took place after the Faf du Plessis-led side thumped the David Warner-led side by 23 runs at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday (April 15th).

After the game, the players of both hands shook hands with each other. But what caught the attention of many was when Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly passed each other. The RCB batter got engaged in conversation with Ricky Ponting and as the former BCCI president came close to him, he ignore him and went on the straightaway.

The incident was highlighted by many and after that, it was reportedly learned that Virat Kohli unfollowed Ganguly on social media and the former BCCI President returned the favour after a few days. The differences between the duo arose during Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly’s tenure as skipper of the Indian team and President of the board respectively.

When Virat Kohli decided to step down from the T20I captaincy he was quite vocal about his desire to lead a team in Tests and ODIs. But he was sacked as the skipper of the 50-over side and also then stepped down as the Test skipper.

Amid the rift between the two, Ravi Shastri has given his verdict on the same. The former Indian head coach was asked how would he deal with the situation.

Replying to this, he said: “Depends on what my relationship is. If I don’t want to talk, I’ll just go past. But at the end of it, when you go and sit down, you feel that there’s always some room to grow up, no matter how old you are.
