Ben Stokes' recent visit to Mumbai sparked a lot of speculation, with many fans and social media posts suggesting that the England Test captain might be linked to the Mumbai Indians franchise. There were also speculations that Ben Stokes’ visit could be related to business plans regarding the upcoming England-India summer Test tour.

Some even suggested that the England all-rounder could join the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2025. However, these were only rumors, as Stokes cannot participate in this season because the star all-rounder did not register for the mega-auction.

Ben Stokes' visit to Mumbai creates buzz amid IPL

According to the BCCI's IPL rules, players must be part of the auction process to be eligible to take part in the tournament in that particular three-year cycle. So, any talk of Stokes joining the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2025 is baseless.

Now, a Cricbuzz report revealed that Ben Stokes' visit to Mumbai had nothing to do with the upcoming England-India Test series either. The report suggested that the England Test captain’s India visit was entirely personal and commercial, and he was joined by Nasser Hussain.

Ben Stokes and KL Rahul team up for a promotional shoot in Mumbai

Actually, Stokes was in India for a promotional shoot organized by a brand along with the support staff, which included Nasser Hussain, former England captain and current broadcaster with Sky Sports. The group was flown to Aamby Valley, a scenic township near Mumbai, where they stayed for three days.

India and Delhi Capitals’ star KL Rahul also took part in the shoot. Rahul has reportedly taken permission from his IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals, to participate in the commercial shoot. Rahul was flown in by helicopter on two consecutive days, and his involvement in the shoot did not interfere with the team's preparation, as there was a five-day gap between their IPL 2025 matches.
