Former Indian cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi has been unimpressed by the Indian team’s conduct in England. The Indian team will take on England in the five-match Test series from the 4th of August; however, they have suffered multiple setbacks. After losing the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand, two members have contracted COVID-19. Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes players need to be responsible enough.
Indian players like Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant attended the Euro 2020 fixtures, while coach Ravi Shastri was spotted in the Wimbledon 2021 finals this Sunday. With the sporting events crowded, there were more than an even chance they would contract the disease. Pant tested positive for COVID-19 on the 8th of July, while a support staff also suffered the same fate on Thursday.

Reetinder Singh Sodhi claimed that it’s an atmosphere of tension and there have been talks of avoiding crowded places and wear masks when necessary. The 40-year old stated when going without masks in crowded places, people only invite danger.
“It is an atmosphere of tension. There has been talk going on for such a long time that you should avoid crowded places and if it is necessary wear masks. If you are going without masks where there are so many spectators, then you are yourselves inviting danger,” Sodhi said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Reetinder Singh Sodhi further said that it should not have happened and believes it’s justified for the board to express their anger as the players need to be responsible enough. Nevertheless, the 40-year old hopes everything becomes fine.
“This is very very sad and the board has expressed their anger and it is absolutely correct as well because the players will have to understand their responsibility themselves. Now the prayer is that everything remains fine,” he added.
