Following the recent visa issue involving England spinner Shoaib Bashir, his teammate Rehan Ahmed found himself entangled in a similar situation. Rehan Ahmed encountered visa complications as the England team was coming to Rajkot for the third Test match.

During the 10-day break between the second and third Test matches, the England cricket team traveled to Abu Dhabi, where they conducted their pre-season preparation camp. Upon concluding the break, the squad arrived in Rajkot for the upcoming Test match.

Rehan Ahmed Stopped At Rajkot Airport – Reports

On Monday, February 12, Rehan Ahmed was reportedly stopped at Hirasar Airport due to inadequate paperwork. The young spinner encountered a two-hour delay as he possessed only a single-entry visa. He returned to India from the UAE for the second time in a month.

However, the authorities responded promptly, considering the seriousness of the situation. The authorities provided Rehan with a temporary two-day visa as a solution. The England camp received advice to resolve the issue completely within the given two-day period.

All other members of the England team’s traveling squad and support staff encountered no issues and arrived at their hotel in Rajkot by Monday evening. The England Cricket Board (ECB) remains optimistic about resolving within the next 24 hours.

Rehan faced no difficulties upon initially entering India with the rest of the England squad, unlike Shoaib Bashir. Given three matches remaining in the ongoing Test series, England is eager to resolve Rehan’s visa issue before the next match against the Rohit Sharma-led side.

“The England team has been advised to process the visa again which will be happening in the next two days. The player was allowed to enter the country with the rest of the team and he will be appearing in practice on Tuesday,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Rehan Ahmed Struggled To Maintain Consistency In First Two Tests

The 19-year-old wrist spinner has struggled to maintain consistency in the series during the first two Tests, securing eight wickets at an average of 36.37 and an economy rate of 4.06. His standout performance came in the second Test in Vizag, where he claimed six wickets.

The Ben Stokes-led side clinched a significant victory in the series opener in Hyderabad. England registered a 28-run victory despite facing a daunting 190-run deficit. Ollie Pope scored an impressive 196 runs to help the team set a competitive target of 231 for India.

India leveled the series with a commanding 106-run win in the second Test in Visakhapatnam. Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill played pivotal roles in India’s victory. Bumrah earned the Player of the Match accolade for his nine-wicket haul.

The third Test between India and England is scheduled to take place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, beginning on February 15. England aims to bounce back after their loss in the previous Test, while India seeks to maintain their momentum.
