In what comes as heartening news for Ravindra Jadeja fans, the champion all-rounder has completely recovered from his injury and he is likely to slot in straight into the Chennai Super Kings playing 11 in the 14th season of the IPL.

Jadeja has been out of action ever since he was hit on his left thumb by a Mitchell Starc bumper during the first innings of the New Year Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The left-hander subsequently underwent surgery, post which he went to the National Cricket Academy as part of his rehabilitation program.

As a result, Ravindra Jadeja missed out on playing the entire home series against England and the upcoming IPL will be the first time he plays competitive cricket in the last four months.

According to a report in the Times of India, a source close to CSK confirmed Jadeja’s availability ahead of the 14th season.

“He batted and bowled in the nets and looked pretty good at that. He will definitely be part of the playing XI,” the source added.

The Saurashtra all-rounder was in smashing form last year as he smashed 232 runs in 14 games at an average of 46.40 and a strike rate of 171.85. The MS Dhoni-led CSK would hope that Ravindra Jadeja carries his form in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, uncapped batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad is all but confirmed to open the innings in IPL 2021.

Gaikwad endured a poor start to his IPL career thanks to Covid and a string to low scores but came back brilliantly to smoke three consecutive half-centuries at the backend of the season.

CSK’s IPL 2021 campaign will kickstart on April 10 in Mumbai when they take on the Delhi Capitals.
