Australian head coach Justin Langer and team-manager and Gavin Dovey have landed in hot waters with reports emerging that the duo was involved in a heated altercation with a Cricket Australia staffer.

According to a report published in the Sydney Morning Herald, Langer and Dovey took umbrage at the footage that CA aired on its social media channels that showed Bangladeshi players singing their team anthem while celebrating their series-clinching win against the Aussies in the third T20I.

The report stated that Dovey and Langer were upset with the video that CA posted on cricket.com.au where Bangladesh players were singing their team. anthem following a thrilling win in the third match.

Dovey questioned the staffer as he objected to CA posting Bangladesh team song, a view that was shared by head coach Justin Langer

The matter escalated as the staffer stood his ground and according to the report, at least a dozen people saw the scuffle unfolding in front of their eyes which also left some of the Australian players with a sense of unease.

“The clashes, which took place at the team hotel after the series win of the third game, were separate but took place in quick succession. Sources close to the team said the incidents were seen by at least a dozen people and that some players were bewildered and with a sense of unease about what had happened,” Sydney Morning Herald stated.

While Justin Langer has kept mum about the incident, Dovey said that it was an ‘honest and frank’ discussion where both parties agreed to disagree.

He, however, admitted that such confrontation should have happened behind closed doors.

“A healthy team environment includes the ability to have honest and frank discussions, whether it be between players, support staff or others within the team environment, which was the case here.” said Dovey.

“There was a difference of opinion, and we agreed to disagree on a particular matter. In hindsight, it was one of those instances which should have taken place in private. I take full ownership of that,” he added.

The situation went from bad to worse for the Australian Cricket Team post that incident as they succumbed to their lowest T20I total in the fifth and final game to squander the series 1-4.
