Krunal Pandya And Prasidh Krishna In Line To Be Rewarded With India Call-Up After Vijay Hazare Trophy Heroics

As per reports of Cricbuzz.com, two likely contenders to earn their maiden India ODI call-up are Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna and Baroda captain Krunal Pandya. Though Krunal Pandya has played 18 T20Is for India, making his debut in 2018, Prasidh Krishna is yet to earn any call from the Men in Blue.

Krunal Pandya, on the other hand, who captained Baroda in the tournament, topped the batting charts for the team with 388 runs in 5 matches with 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries at an average of 129.33 and a strike-rate of 117.93. His highest score was 133* against Chhattisgarh in Surat. Krunal also picked 5 wickets with a best of 3/62.

Prithvi Shaw And Devdutt Padikkal Likely To Be Overlooked

It is likely that the BCCI selectors might not give a look to two of the top-scorers of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, Prithvi Shaw (827 runs) and Devdutt Padikkal (737 runs). It is reported that the selectors believe that there is no space for the two openers in the Indian ODI team.

This is because of the presence of KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma in contention. Unless there is a last-minute change of plans, all four are certain to find a place in the squad for the three games to be played in Pune, on March, 23, 26, and 28.

Also reported that Ravindra Jadeja, who has resumed practice recently, is expected to spend some more time on the sidelines rehabbing and probably return to action with the IPL 2021.
