Reports: Legendary Off-Spinner Muttiah Muralitharan Admitted To Hospital Due To Cardiac Issue

Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has been admitted to a hospital in Chennai for a cardiac issue if the reports in Tamil news channels Thanthi TV and Puthiya Thalaimurai are to be believed.

According to the same report, Muttiah Muralitharan has been admitted for an angioplasty procedure.

Muralitharan is currently in Chennai as part of SunRisers Hyderabad’s coaching staff for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

On the occasion of his birthday, his IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad posted a video on their official Twitter account where members of the ‘Orange Army’ like David Warner, Kane Williamson, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and other cricketers wished the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan.

The video also showed Murali cutting his birthday cake amid the entire SRH staff.

Muttiah Muralitharan remains the highest-wicket-taker across both formats of the game- Tests and ODIs.

The only bowler to claim 800 Test wickets, Muttiah Muralitharan called time on his international career after the 2011 World Cup final which Sri Lanka lost to India by six wickets. He finished his ODI career with as many as 534 scalps.
