Bangladesh record first win in WTC 2025-27 cycle with massive 104-run victory
With Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh skipper, leading from the front with a century and a half-century across the two innings for Bangladesh, they handed them a massive chase of 268 runs in the second innings.
The debutant opener was dismissed shortly in the second innings after having scored a century on his debut for Pakistan. Though Abdullah Fazal also scored a second half-century this season, he could not help them chase the target.
Nahid Rana then ran a rampage as he dismissed the Pakistan middle-order batter and also dismissed the tail in no time, ending their innings for a small score of 163. With so many dismissals lined up, they managed to win the match by a massive margin of 104 runs.
Najmul Hossain Shanto was the POTM in the first Test against Pakistan
The Bangladesh skipper was backed by the new board of selectors for retaining the role of captaincy for Bangladesh. Najmul Hossain Shanto went on to score a century in the first innings after the fall of two early wickets in the first Test at Dhaka.
Shanto having scored that hundred helped them over the line to a 400+ total, while he also scored a half-century in the second innings, missing out on a twin hundred; he, alongside Mominul Haque, helped them to a respectable score that the bowlers successfully chased.
With 188 runs in the match, Najmul Hossain Shanto was awarded the Player of the Match during the first Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
