Former Australia National Cricket Team player Ian Healy talked about the BCCI's step to make things disciplined in Indian cricket. He said that the way they introduced the guidelines means they admitted they let the discipline slip away from the team.

The India National Cricket Team have been in the headlines for the last few weeks. This comes after there were reports of indiscipline during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Head coach Gautam Gambhir reported about the same to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

BCCI issues guidelines for the players, says all the players should make themselves available for domestic cricket

After that, BCCI issued guidelines for the players and took some strong steps. They issued 10-point guidelines, and according to that, all the players should make themselves available for domestic cricket and will have "to stay for the entire duration of scheduled practice sessions and travel together to and from the venue."

Apart from this, the policy also saw BCCI applying restrictions on the time the players would spend with their families while on tour. The families of the players will be allowed only for the two weeks now on the 45-day long tour.

Strict, strong response from Indian cricket authorities admitting they have let discipline of their national team slip badly - Ian Healy

With BCCI introducing guidelines, former Australia cricketer Ian Healy called it a reshaping of Indian cricket. He said that it was a strict response from the governing body after the indiscipline of the players. Speaking to SEN Radio, he explained:

"The reshaping of Indian cricket. A strict, strong response from Indian cricket authorities admitting they have let discipline of their national team slip badly."

Australia - plus other countries - be aware as to how far things can get off the rails without noticing the effects. - Ian Healy

Ian Healy, who represented Australia in 119 Tests and 168 ODIs between 1988 and 1999, said that other cricketing boards should be vigilant and take note of the things happening. He elaborated:

"It made for extraordinary reading that the following issues could go unapproved for so long. Maybe administrators and players have disrespected the dream of representing a powerhouse of the sport.

"Australia - plus other countries - be aware as to how far things can get off the rails without noticing the effects. Stay vigilant. Take all that into the contest."

The BCCI also stated that all the players will now have to travel with the team. Earlier some of the senior cricketers have also travelled to and fro from stadiums in personal vehicles, which BCCI's operation team would arrange with the help of state units.

The BCCI also has banned personal managers or assistants of players and support staff members from staying in the team hotel. Apart from this, no players will be allowed to carry their chef, or hairstylist on the tours.
