Revealed: How Much Money Will ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Winner And Runners Up Win?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has, on Friday (February 14), officially revealed the prize pool for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to begin on February 19 in Pakistan, with India playing all its matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

The ICC Champions Trophy is returning after eight years, with eight teams battling for a massive grand prize of $2.24 million. The winner of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will take home a staggering $2.24 million (USD).

ICC announces record $6.9 million prize pool for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The runners-up will get $1.12 million, while the two losing semi-finalists will receive $560,000 each. In a historic move, the total prize pool has been increased by 53% from the 2017 edition, reaching a staggering $6.9 million to make the upcoming tournament one of the richest ICC events ever.

The upcoming Champions Trophy is set to make every match count, as each group stage win will earn teams over $34,000. Teams finishing in 5th and 6th place will receive $350,000, while the bottom two (7th and 8th) will take home $140,000 each. Additionally, all eight participating teams are guaranteed $125,000 just for being part of the tournament.

Apart from announcing the prize money, the International Cricket Council also announced that the Champions Trophy will be held every four years with the world’s top eight ODI teams participating in the marquee event. The ICC also confirmed that the Women's Champions Trophy will be launched in 2027 in a T20 format.

Jay Shah says Champions Trophy is a crucial moment for the game's future

While making the announcement, the ICC chairman, Jay Shah, said that the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 is a significant event, and historic prize money reflects the board’s dedication to investing in cricket and maintaining the global prestige of its events.

ICC Chair Jay Shah said in an official statement, “The ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 represents a pivotal moment for cricket, reviving a tournament that highlights the pinnacle of ODI talent, where every match is critical. The substantial prize pot underscores the ICC's ongoing commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining the global prestige of our events.”

The chairman further added, “Beyond the financial incentive, this tournament ignites fierce competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a vital role in fostering the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket for future generations.”

Shikhar Dhawan named as the ambassadors for CT 2025

A total of eight teams, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa, are taking part in the upcoming tournament. They are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan. Bangladesh and New Zealand are in Group A, while Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa are slotted in Group B for the event.

Notably, Pakistan is hosting the ICC event for the first time since the 1996 ODI World Cup. However, India’s matches will be played in Dubai, and if they make it to the knockouts, the final round of the tournament will also be held in Dubai under a hybrid model.

Earlier, the ICC named the former Indian all-rounder Shikhar Dhawan, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, and former New Zealand captain and pacer Tim Southee as the ambassadors for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
