Revealed: Who are the impact players nominated by CSK and MI in match 3 of IPL 2025

The MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai is hosting the third match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Sunday, March 23.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are locking horns with the Suryakumar Yadav-led Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home venue.

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are renewing IPL's most-storied rivalry on the opening weekend and would be looking to entertain fans by playing a good brand of cricket.

In the recent past, the Chennai Super Kings have dominated the Mumbai Indians, winning five of their last six matches, and they would be looking to continue that.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, would want to better their record against Chennai Super Kings and win their first opening game of the season since 2012.

CSK are being led by regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad in their tournament opener, but MI are led by Suryakumar Yadav in the absence of regular captain Hardik Pandya, who missed the match due to a ban, which he received because of an over-rate offense from last season.

IPL 2025: Chennai Super Kings win the toss and opt to field

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. Ruturaj Gaikwad said that they are not aware of the exact nature of the pitch and would want to adapt to the conditions quickly. He said:

"We are bowling first. Playing on this pitch for the first time, so don't really know how it will play. So we just want to adapt and chase accordingly. Looks a good wicket to bat. Prep has been good. We had our young wicket-keeper coming back early to the camp. Noor, Ellis, Rachin and Sam Curran are the overseas."

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians skipper Suryakumar Yadav expressed his confidence in the match between the 'unbelievable franchises' being a good one. He said:

"I am good with batting first. We had a lovely camp back home, we were here 2-3 days before. Both are unbelievable franchises in terms of achievements. I am sure it will be a good game. Rickleton, Jacks, Santner and Boult are the four overseas."
