The list of impact players nominated for the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi has been revealed.
MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) are taking on each other on Tuesday, May 20, in the dead-rubber 62nd match of the competition.

CSK and RR - both the former IPL champions - are fighting to avoid the wooden spoon finish in the Indian Premier League 2025. Currently, RR are sitting in the ninth spot with three wins in 13 matches, and CSK are in the tenth position with three wins in 12 matches.
The campaigns of both teams ended very early, and they have been out of the playoffs race for quite some time. Chennai Super Kings gave up too early and started chopping and changing their squad by roping in young talent with an eye on the future.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals, who are known for producing young talent, have continuously backed their youngsters to do the job in IPL 2025, but they have failed miserably.
Despite languishing at the bottom of the table, RR have delivered way superior performance to CSK, who have been a pale shadow of their glory days, enduring arguably their worst campaign ever.
Rajasthan Royals' biggest problem has been finishing off the matches, as there have been four matches where they were on the verge of winning but somehow lost.
A victory in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League 2025 would act as a confidence booster for the next season, but for that to happen, CSK need to bat better and RR need to bowl well.
CSK have the worst-performing top order in the ongoing season as their top three have a combined average of only 23.68 and a strike rate of 140.74, which is the lowest among 10 teams.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have been the worst bowling side this season, with an average of 44.84 and an economy rate of 10.02. Talking about the head-to-head record, Chennai Super Kings have a 16-14 edge over Rajasthan, but since 2020, RR have won 7 out of the 9 games.
IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals win the toss and opt to bowl
Speaking at the toss, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson said that they would bowl first because the pitch gets better in the second innings. He said:
"We will bowl first. Looking at the last game between DC and Gujarat, there was something in the wicket and 2nd innings got very better."
Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni said that he wants his batters to express themselves. He said:
"I think we have already started that process. When it comes to our batting department, we want to express ourselves."
