The list of Impact Players, who have been nominated for the 56th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Tuesday, May 6, has officially been revealed.
Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) are hosting the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) in the high-octane IPL 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
This is the reverse fixture between the teams, and in the first match, the 5-time champions were decimated by the Shubman Gill & Co. at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Things have changed quite a lot since then, as the Mumbai Indians have done what they are known for and they are on a historic 6-match winning streak at the moment.
The MI juggernaut looks unstoppable as the premier batters Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have looked in top-notch form, while the star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult have looked threatening.
Hardik Pandya's job as leader has been made easy as the likes of Deepak Chahar, Ryan Rickelton, Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, and Naman Dhir are firing and supporting the in-form experienced campaigners very well.
Mumbai Indians have won four of the five home games this season and are third on the points table, but beating the strong Gujarat Titans won't be easy for them.
GT have got the best top-order in the tournament in Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, with the trio looking in a red-hot form. And on the bowling side of things, they have got the purple cap holder Prasidh Krishna, who has looked in the form of his life.
The aforementioned players have been supported very well by Washington Sundar, Sherfane Rutherford, Mohammed Siraj, Sai Kishore, and others, and the return of Kagiso Rabada will act as a major boost for them.
Talking about the head-to-head record, the Gujarat Titans lead 4-2 against the Mumbai Indians and have won the last three encounters between them.
IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans win the toss and bowl first
Speaking at the toss, GT skipper Shubman Gill said that they would look to chase down any total they get. He said:
"We will bowl first. I don't think the wicket will change much, got to have a total on the board and then chase it."
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya said that they don't mind batting first. He said:
"We don't mind batting. There's a lot of breeze. Will be fine to bowl second in such conditions as well."
