The list of Impact Players nominated for the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) has officially been revealed.
The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) are hosting the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a high-profile match of the IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 17.
Both Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad have played six matches so far in the marquee T20 league and have won just two while losing four.
However, Mumbai Indians sit at the No.7 spot on the IPL 2025 points table due to a superior Net Run Rate of 0.104, while Sunrisers Hyderabad occupy the 9th position with a Net Run Rate of -1.245.
MI and SRH will be high on confidence heading into the match, having stunningly won their previous match. While the Hardik Pandya-led side beat the high-flying Delhi Capitals in a nail-biting clash, Pat Cummins & Co. chased down a humongous 246-run target with 8 wickets in hand against the Punjab Kings.
Pitch No.6, which will be the offer for the MI vs SRH match, is expected to be batting-friendly. Traditionally, the Wankhede Stadium is known to be a chase-friendly venue, but since the start of IPL 2024, teams batting first have won five of the nine matches.
Talking about the head-to-head record, the Mumbai Indians have an edge of 13-10 over Sunrisers Hyderabad, and at the venue, MI have dominated SRH with the scoreline being 6-2. Since 2019, MI have won eight of the 11 contests against SRH, and since 2022, they have a 3-2 edge over the Orange Army.
Notably, the former SRH bowling coach Dale Steyn made a huge prediction a few days back, stating, "April 17, we'll see the first 300 in IPL. Who knows, I might even be there to see it happen."
IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians win the toss and opt to field
Speaking after winning the toss, Hardik Pandya said that the dew factor is the reason behind them choosing to bowl first in the match. He said:
"We are going to bowl first. I think it is a lot to do with the dew, last night there was dew and always at the Wankhede it is better to bat second. Same side. Everyone knew we had to give it all and that made us close. That's depending on the situation we will do that, we back all the batters in our team. He is fine. We don't need to worry about Jasprit Bumrah."
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins said that the surface on the offer is a good one to bat on. He said:
"That's fine. It looks a pretty good wicket. Same side. I think Abhi is still looking at the highlights. But we had a nice break, couple of practice sessions and here we are, five days go like that."
