The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are going head-to-head in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on April 15.

Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings are currently at the sixth spot in the IPL 2025 points table while his previous team Kolkata Knight Riders, who are led by Ajinkya Rahane, are at the fifth spot.

However, the rankings don't really reveal how threatening these teams can be. Punjab Kings have got a dangerously well-rounded side while Kolkata Knight Riders are filled with power-hitters and world-class spinners.

Punjab Kings will be entering the match still fresh from the thrashing they received in Hyderabad, failing to defend a colossal total of 245. Things will not be easy for their bowling unit in Mullanpur as well.

Another major issue for the Kings has been the injury picked by the express pacer Lockie Ferguson in the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad as the team coach has confirmed that the speedster is all but ruled out of the competition.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders absolutely annihilated Chennai Super Kings in their previous match and would be high on confidence for the clash against PBKS. When KKR and PBKS clashed last time in IPL, the Punjab Kings pulled off a heist by chasing down a record total of 262 at Eden Gardens.

Talking about the head-to-head record, the Kolkata Knight Riders enjoy a healthy lead of 21-12 over Punjab Kings in IPL. However, since 2020 everything has been even steven with both teams winning four matches each.

IIPL 2025: PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first vs KKR

Speaking at the toss, Shreyas Iyer said that the pitch on the offer is really good. He stated:

"We are going to bat first. Feel the wicket has been really well for the last couple of matches, the dew comes in but the outfield doesn't skid through. Don't remember the team changes, I will tell later. We need to take as many catches in the fielding and create some sort of brilliance."

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane said that they were anyways looking to bowl first. He stated:

"We were looking to bowl first on this wicket. For me, toss is something you cannot control. We have a batting that can chase the target. Just one change. Nortje comes in for Moeen Ali. He has been working hard on his game and I am really looking forward to see him bowl tonight."
