Klaasen carries the ability to destroy any bowling attack in the world. He is equally good against both the fast bowlers and the spinners and will be important on flat pitches in Pakistan.
The 33-year-old was expected to take the gloves for South Africa in the tournament. However, he will need some more time to fully recover from the injury.
Powerful middle order for South Africa
Heinrich Klaasen is a part of South Africa's middle order which is probably the strongest of the tournament. Apart from him, South Africa have the likes of Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Rassie van der Dussen in the middle order.
However, he will come straight into the Playing XI once he gets fit. Klaasen has been one of the best cricketers for South Africa in the last few months. He can hit the ball hard which makes him so destructive in the middle and end overs.
It remains to be seen whether he gets fit before South Africa's next match against Australia or not, The Proteas will play Afghanistan on February 25 in Rawalpindi before travelling to Karachi to play England on March 1.
Heinrich Klaasen has great numbers in ODIs with 2074 runs in 58 matches at an average of 44.12 and a strike rate of 117.44 with 4 hundreds and 10 fifties
Ryan Rickelton replaces Heinrich Klaasen
Heinrich Klaasen was replaced by Ryan Rickelton in the Playing XI. He is also likely to keep wickets for his team in the match. Unlike Klaasen, Rickelton is an opener and a destructive batter at the top.
He has had a magnificent past year or so and has established himself as a key member of the side across formats. Rickelton has scored 188 runs in 6 ODIs so far at an average of 31.33 and a strike rate of 89.52.
He scored a magnificent double hundred against Pakistan in the Test series played at home. RIckelton is a powerful ball-striker and has the ability to serve for several years for his country.
Meanwhile, South Africa's captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat batting surface in Karachi. While Klaasen didnt play, Lungi Ngidi got back into the ODI side.
