Mukesh Kumar

The 30-year-old India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mukesh Kumar was not a part of the playing XI in the third T20I of the five-match series against Australia National Cricket Team.

The match between the teams is currently underway at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Tuesday, November 28. India are entering the third T20I with a winning momentum. The Men In Blue won the first match by 2 wickets with 1 ball remaining and the second match by 44 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Mukesh Kumar looked good with the ball in the first two matches and registered figures of 0/29 and 1/43. His performance in the first T20I was one of the reasons behind India’s win as he bowled a highly economical spell where other bowlers were taken to cleaners.

The absence of Mukesh Kumar from the playing XI for the third T20I surprised many and the BCCI took to X to reveal the reason behind it. BCCI stated that Mukesh Kumar was unavailable for the game as he had asked for a leave for his wedding. Deepak Chahar has been added to the squad as his replacement and Mukesh will return ahead of the 4th T20I.

“He will join the squad ahead of the 4th T20I in Raipur. Pacer Deepak Chahar has been added to India’s squad for the remainder of the series,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in an official statement.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav talked about Mukesh Kumar’s absence and said that the latter is playing the biggest game of his life as he is getting married. He was replaced by Avesh Khan in the playing XI.

“Happy to bat first, not surprised with the dew coming along early. We just want to do the same thing, have the game plans and express ourselves. One change for us – Avesh replaces Mukesh, who is playing his biggest game, he’s getting married and we wish him all the best,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
